How would I prevent weight loss when fasting?

Question by sejad_a: How would I prevent weight loss when fasting?
In light of the coming holy month of ramadhan, I will be fasting a month.

In this month and a half of summer, I gained a lot of muscle. I would really hate to lose all the weight I gained while fasting. Can anyone advise me on how to prevent weight loss?

The first thing that comes to mind is to exercise after eating; would that be effective?

Thanks!
I think I made a mistake in explaining my question. Let me rephrase:

How can I prevent muscle loss?

The reason for ramadhan is that it is a month that is meant to allow an individual to practice patience, and spirituality. Furthermore, it is physically healthy:

“We report that when C57BL/6 mice are maintained on an intermittent fasting (alternate-day fasting) dietary-restriction regimen their overall food intake is not decreased and their body weight is maintained. Nevertheless, intermittent fasting resulted in beneficial effects that met or exceeded those of caloric restriction including reduced serum glucose and insulin levels and increased resistance of neurons in the brain to excitotoxic stress.”

Is it good to do Intermittent fasting and swimming?

Question by Adam: Is it good to do Intermittent fasting and swimming?
I am 17 and I am doing Intermittent fasting, and I’m on the swim team. I fast for 20 hours. I my consuming is 4pm-8pm, and swim practice starts at 2:30pm-5:00pm one day and 4:00pm-6:30pm the next, alternating like that all week.
So the Question: Is it good to be swimming on an empty stomach, then eating the meal afterwards?

Best answer:

Answer by hmmmm
I don’t believe that it is in your best interest to swim on an empty stomach. When you swim, especially if its for an hour or more in one day, your body burns fat and calories. If you have no calories (aka energy), then you can possibly endure harsh stomach cramps or hunger pains, or even in some cases pass out. Another effect is that you will not swim as fast as you would with food in your stomach. You may also get muscle cramps and feel dizzy.

Don’t do it!

Weight Loss Memphis

Weight loss is not as difficult as most people would make you think. It’s a simple manner of taking in less calories than you burn. You do not have to make this complicated but most people do.

I have found that one if the simplest weight loss method is intermittent fasting. It achieves the above objective of taking in less calories than you burn, does not require you to limit your food choices
(although it’s not bad idea to watch your fat intake or carb intake) and will not cause your metabolism to “reset”.

Restrictive diets for weigh loss will cause your metabolism to slow down when your body realizes that you are not taking in enough food to keep yourself alive over the long haul. This can make weight loss extremely difficult for some people. Especially those that are not very active.

Weight loss using intermittent fasting removes this potential problem by not allowing your body to get to a point where it resets your metabolic rate. At the same time you will still take in less calories than you are burning and as a consequence lose weight.

Many people whom are overweight may believe they have to reduce their calorie intake by a huge amount. This may not be true. You may be eating at this moment the right amount of calories, which will maintain your current body weight as it stand, meaning you might only have to reduce your
intake by a small amount.

Intermittent fasting, especially done using the Eat Stop Eat Program, should get that weight off quickly. It only requires that you change your eating patterns; not change what you eat or feel like you are hungry all the time or that you are denying yourself things that you love.

Why Eat Stop Eat?

The truth is Eat Stop Eat is more than a diet; it’s a way of thinking.

It’s a belief that weight loss is ENTIRELY possible, and that you deserve it.

I can best explain what I am talking about by a rather Profound Statement:

Our Brains become magnetized with the dominating thoughts that we hold in our minds. And, by means which no man is familiar, these magnets attract us to the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts*

This is a quote from Napoleon Hill, and believe it or not it explains EXACTLY why you are reading this post.

Because if you bend and twist this quote, you get this:

It is up to YOU to choose to believe that you DESERVE to lose weight.

(And you can’t wait, not even another day. You need to choose to believe right
NOW!)

Because every day that goes by that you don’t take action, is a day that you learn to accept that you DO NOT DESERVE to lose weight.

And if you don’t believe you deserve it, it’s never going to happen.

Now, positive thoughts alone will NOT create weight loss… (You can’t ‘wish yourself thin’)

You need a plan

And Eat Stop Eat is that plan.

Eat Stop Eat is a PERFECT map that lays out EVERYTHING you need to do to lose weight while maintaining your muscle mass.

And it’s much simpler than you probably think.

It is not complex nor is it confusing.

Everything that you need to do (and everything you don’t) is clearly laid out for you.

But it’s up to YOU.

Everything you need is RIGHT HERE in Eat Stop Eat.

So it’s completely up to you to take action.

(Click HERE for a more in depth explanation of how Eat Stop Eat works)

So Eat Stop Eat is a belief that you deserve to lose weight, AND it’s the plan to help you get there.

This is the way of thinking behind Eat Stop Eat, and it’s makes it so effective.

All you need to lose weight is to believe that you deserve it, and then to take action.
